Treatments

Goals of Treatment:

The goal of treatment is to help you take charge of your own health.Dr. Malcolm empowers her patients by educating them toward a healthier lifestyle. This includes understanding the physical needs of the body as well as the mental and emotional needs. A customized treatment plan is created for each individual with the goal of achieving optimal health.

Dr. Malcolm wants you to attain the greatest level of health and happiness possible.

What to Expect:

It is important that Dr. Malcolm has plenty of time to get to know you, and address all of your concerns. The first visit is 2 ½ to 3 ½ hours long for adults and 1 ½ to 2 hours long for children.

During your initial visit, Dr. Malcolm will ask you lots of specific questions, and have an in-depth discussion about your nutrition. She will complete a western evaluation as well as Chinese diagnosis of your tongue and pulses. You will talk together for 1 ½ to 2 hours and then you will recline on a comfortable treatment table for 1 or 2 different treatments for 30 minutes to an hour.Dr. Malcolm does kinesology (muscle testing) to determine food allergies and nutrients. Then you have the opportunity to experience hands-on treatment and acupuncture. She wants you to feel safe as this may be new to you, so she’ll make you comfortable, keep you warm and you can choose to have your treatment in quiet or with soothing music.

With younger children Dr. Malcolm usually lets them play in the kid’s area, while she speaks privately with their parent(s), and then brings the child in the private office. This helps little ones enjoy their experience of going to the doctor. She does not usually do acupuncture with children, but otherwise their visit is similar.

Areas of Specialty:

Dr. Malcolm’s focus is on treating people, not disease. She may have 5 patients with the same complaint, and each one could get an entirely different treatment plan based on their biological individuality. Her area of specialty is her ability to utilize a variety of natural modalities to address a person’s specific needs, not solely focusing on a condition or disease.
